We are a group of people who are passionate about photography. We enjoy sharing knowledge and experiences while encouraging each other to continuously develop our photographic skills.
The Carlow Photographic Society was founded in 2003 by current honorary member Charley Callinan and past member Stephen Nolan, both of whom were former Tallaght Photographic Society members. On moving to Carlow they decided to pop an advert in the paper to see if others would be interested in meeting weekly for interacting and developing their photographic skills with like minded people. Since then the club has grown from strength to strength and it hasn’t looked back. Charley is a great character, always a joke or a story to tell and he’s very generous with his photographic knowledge shared. I’m sure all will agree, he started something off in Carlow that has been a great asset to us all since, thank you Charley.
We have regular guest speakers, photo workshops, outings, competitions to take part in. It’s an opportunity to mix with people who have a similar interest to you and have a bit of fun. Also, our Exposure Exhibition held every year during the Carlow Arts Festival allows members the opportunity to display their photography to a wider audience.
Carlow Photographic Society meet on a Wednesday night between 8:00pm - 10:00pm in the Cedar Room at the Seven Oaks Hotel, Athy Road, Carlow.
