A MESSAGE FROM GILBERT:
Well it has been another busy month here in CPS, we had a workshop down in Arklow on lighting with Lawrence Timmons and been my first time to do something like this, I have to say, I really enjoyed the experience and will hope to do more of these studio photo shoots going forward, all eleven of us that took part came away with some great images and learned a lot.
Then we had Helen Hanafin showing us her successful Fellowship panel and brought us on the journey she traveled to get the images and how she went about putting the whole panel together.
Then we had Lawrence Timmons down in the Seven Oaks for a Photoshop workshop, and by does he know his stuff and the passion he has for his photography and editing makes you really sit up and listen, so much information is hard to take in that I look forward to the videos he is putting together of that workshop will make doing as he says much easier.
Our outing to Ballymoon Castle was another great night for those that weren’t afraid of a few drops of rain.
We entered a Colour and B&W panel in the Club Shield last Sunday the 17th November and we were very happy with the results, we came in 13th overall plus we had 1 image that got a Honourable Mention which was great, this image is the work of Nuala Grogan and a huge Congratulations goes to Nuala. And we owe Joe Rattigan, Linda Nolan Sabrina Dunny and David Lawlor a huge Thank You for the hours and I mean hours of work sorting images on the Club Hard drives to put this panel together, we the Committee would like if some other members would offer to be part of that group and not leave all the work to a few.
We are heading to the end of another fun packed year and the AGM will be held on the first Wednesday in February, we have to elect a new committee on that night and all positions are up for election. We will have nomination papers out in the New Year, and we always try to have enough members nominates before the AGM, as this way someone will not be pressured into taking a job just to fill a position. Remember it is not what your club can do for you but what you can do for your club. All clubs benefit from new energy, new ideas on a committee.
A question for fellow photographers. Should composite images have there own judging category ?
